Sri Pada season begins today

KANDY: The Sri Pada pilgrim season begins today, Unduvap Poya Day.

The season breaks up after laying out of Sacred Relics and the statue of God Sumana Saman which are to be removed from Pelmadulla, Galpottawela Raja Maha Vihara at the Sri Pada Shrine Room.

Meanwhile, environment protection organisations requested pilgrims to refrain from polluting the Peak by bringing polythene and plastic items.
