Sri Lankan women cagers for Singapore
BASKETBALL: The Sri Lanka women's basketball team will take
part in the second FIBA Asia Championship for Young Women which will be
worked off in Singapore from December 20 to 27, this year.
Sri Lankan women cagers will take part in the level II competition
and play against Singapore, Kuwait, Indonesia, Iraq and Uzbekisten.
Asia's leading teams China, Korea, Japan, Chinese, Taipei, Thailand
and India will battle for honours in the Level I competition.
The three top teams will qualify to play in the World Championship
for women in Moscow, Russia in June, 2007. The Sri Lanka women's
basketball team will be captained by Benika Thalagala.
