Negombo YSC beat Army 3-1

FOOTBALL: The defending champions of the Kit Premier League
Negombo Youth Sports Club who are three points behind leaders Ratnam SC
came back to be on equal terms yesterday when they trounced SL Army
three goals to one at CR& FC ground.
The victory which gave them three points made their tally 23. But
they still stand behind Ratnam on goal aggregate.
Negombo team got ahead in the first half through a goal scored by its
skipper and national skipper Dudley Steinwal. Few manutes later their
foreign player C.G. Wright put his side further ahead with a another
goal. This lead they held on till the lemons.
Soon after the turn around Army team combined well to stop the
Negombo team from scoring again. Their defenders stood did not allow the
Negombo strikers penetrate their defence easily.
This boosted their strikers morale and they kept on attacking which
brought in good results when Mohamed Issadeen reduced the lead.2-1.
Negombo Youth once again fought their way to to penetrate the
opponents defence and scored through Mohamed Azmeer which also sealed
victory.for the Negombo team.
Ratnam SC and Negombo Youth SC are on top with 23 points whileBlue
Star SC lies in third spot with 19 points under their belt. |
