Delaying contractors to be blacklisted

COLOMBO: Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has taken serious note of contractors who have delayed construction of hospitals and ordered to blacklist them.

The Health Ministry had received reports of the slow pace of work on buildings including wards, surgical theatre units, accident wards, medical officers' quarters, and nursing training school hostels in several hospitals.

The contracts had been awarded to Government institutions such as the Public Building Department, Central Engineering Consultation Bureau and private contractors.
