15,000 tons of essentials sent to Jaffna

KOTTE: Trade, Commerce & Consumer Affairs Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle said over 15,000 metric tons of essential items have been sent to Jaffna yesterday.

Winding up the committee stage debate of his Ministry yesterday. Minister Fernandopulle said Jaffna GA, K. Ganesh has reported he has received 15,000 metric tons of essential food & commodities for Jaffna upto now.

The total demand for a month for Jaffna is over 19,000 metric tons.

"We will be able to dispatch 85% of the entire needs by the end of the month", the Minister informed the House.
