CCC mission to South Africa paves way for trade expansion
TRADE FAIR: The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Trade Fair
Unit concluded its programme of activities for 2006 exploring some
untapped and emerging markets such as Myanmar, Vietnam and the final
mission to South Africa.
All these missions focused not only on promotion of trade,
investments and joint ventures, but they also served as fact finding
missions.
The nine member delegation led by Chief Operating OPfficer, CIC Group
Samantha Ranatunga and assisted by Senior Assistant Secretary General,
Puvi Domingopillai, visited Durban and Johannesburg recently.
They were accompanied by seven leading organisations comprising
Managing Director, CIC Fertilizers (Pvt) Ltd., K. B. Kotagama, General
Manager, International Trade Development, Ruwan Senanayake, Freight
Links International (Pte) Ltd., Nisal Weerasekera, Manager, Imperial
Teas (Pvt) Ltd., Commercial Manager, Jayes Trading Company, Karthik
Ramachandran, Chairman, Laugfs Holdings Ltd., W. K. M. Wegapitiya,
Managing Director, N M K Group of Companies N. M. Manjula and General
Manager (Commerce), Samson Rubber Industries (Pvt) Ltd. D. D.
Abeythilake.
Though the delegation was targeting at the South African market, they
also had the opportunity of meeting with the Dubai business community
through the courtesy of the President of the Sri Lanka Business Council
in Dubai. They also met officials of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. |
