Modern kidney centre at A'pura hospital

ANURADHAPURA: The Government has initiated a project to construct a
modern kidney centre at the Anuradhapura General Hospital premises to
facilitate kidney patients in North Central Province to seek medical
assistance for five days a week.
Presently the clinic for kidney patients at the Anuradhapura Hospital
functions once a week only. The new wing of the kidney treatment centre
will consist of twenty-four blood purification plants, two operation
theatres, an intensive care unit and a kidney research centre.
The construction work was initiated at a simple ceremony by the
Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition recently participated by North
Central Province Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayaka, Sri Lanka
National Kidney Foundation chairman Dr. A. M. C. Beligaswatta, Secretary
of the Foundation Dr. Tilak Abeysekera, health officials and public.
The Government, North Central Provincial Council and the Sri Lanka
National Kidney Foundation seek public and other organisations'
assistance for the project.
