BINGIRIYA:Parents and teachers must do everything to offer children a
better education coupled with noble human qualities and attitudes to
create a prosperous country in the future.
government is doing everything possible to provide a meaningful and
quality education to our future generation, the heirs of this land, said
North Western Province, Provincial Council Chief Minister Athula
Wijesinghe, addressing a gathering of students, parents and teachers
after the opening ceremony of the new three-storeyed building at
Weerapokuna Vijitha Maha Vidyalaya of Weerapokuna in the Bingiriya
electorate.
Wijesinghe said all parents should pave the way for their children to
obtain religious education as noble citizens can't be created without
religious knowledge and background at their homes and schools.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa is concerned about religious education in
schools hence the North Western Provincial Council has taken steps to
train more school teachers to be moral educators with the objective of
generating well-balanced citizens in the country. All parents, school
principals and assistant teachers should offer their fullest
co-operation and contribution towards achieving better results in
education in the time to come.
Wijesinghe further said students should make strong efforts to study
English language as it helps them to have a bright future as many job
opportunities are available locally and internationally for those who
have a sound English educational backgrounds.
Kuliyapitiya Zonal Education Office Deputy Director G.N. Silva said,
all steps will be taken to offer students and teachers with more
opportunities for higher education and the assistance given by the Chief
Minister in that regard was highly appreciated.
Bingiriya Deputy Education Director W.M.C. Balasooriya also spoke.
