South Asian Gold Medallist Lakmali felicitated

FELICITATION: A felicitation was held with the participation of a large gathering at Eheliyagoda National School Auditorium in respect of Sabaragamuwa-born Karate champion Lakmali Sanjeevanie Ranasinghe of Udamatta very close to Eheliyagoda town who has won a Gold Medal for Karate group event and a Silver Medal for Karate single event at the SAF Games held in Sri Lanka recently.

Lakmali is a graduate attached to Sri Jayawardenapura University and will take oaths as a lawyer in the near future.

In 1999, Lakmali won a Bronze Medal for Karate at SAF Games held in Kathmandu, Nepal and participated in the University Karate Tournament held in Japan.

Her mother Jayanthi Ranasinghe is a retired teacher and her father is a retired bank officer.

Lakmali hopes to participate in several international Karate events in the future.
