COLOMBO: Kfir fighter jets of the Sri Lanka Air Force yesterday
engaged two identified LTTE targets in Kilinochchi and Mannar considered
to be a major threat to national security, Military Spokesman Brigadier
Prasad Samarasinghe told the Daily News.
The Brigadier said the target taken in Kilinochchi was a military
training camp north-east of Kilinochchi. The other target was a Sea
Tiger base in Mannar.
Kfir fighter jets on Wednesday too bombed identified LTTE artillery
gun positions close to Kathirveli in Batticaloa to neutralise the LTTE
artillery and mortar fire directed towards Kajuwatta and Mankerni Army
camps.
Brigadier Samarasinghe said LTTE continued with sporadic artillery
and mortar attacks towards Security Forces defences in Batticaloa
yesterday too.
"The Security Forces repulsed those attacks with artillery and mortar
fire," the Brigadier added.
