One soldier killed, three injured

OMANTHAI: One soldier was killed and three others critically injured when they came under attack near the Forward Defence Line (FDL) at Omanthai, yesterday.

The incident occurred when the soldiers were on foot patrol closer to the Omanthai FDL at 11.45 a.m., yesterday, the Defence Information Centre said.

The three injured soldiers were evacuated to the Anuradhapura General Hospital.

Meanwhile, Police found the bodies of two young men with gun shot injuries near the Skanthapuram Tank in Vavuniya at 9.00 a.m., yesterday.

The bodies with their hands tied behind were handed over to the Vavuniya General Hospital for further investigation, sources said.
