Essentials sent to Jaffna

COLOMBO: The Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure
Development Ministry has dispatched several ships carrying essential
supplies to Jaffna from July 2006 to September 2006.
Ships MV Marks Ruhuna, A520 SLN, MV Liverpool and MV Induruvali were
dispatched under the patronage of the Ministry, to Jaffna carrying
13,110 metric tons of essential food items including rice,
sugar, milk powder, flour along with medicine and equipment for the
people of Jaffna peninsula.
MV Marks Ruhuna on August 16 and 24 carried 5,300 metric tons, MV
Hindi on August 24 carried 900 metric tons, A520 SLN carried 800 metric
tons, MV Liverpool on August 24 and September 12 carried 3,110 metric
tons while MV Induruvali carried 3000 tons of essential supplies on
September 16 to Jaffna.
The Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Development Ministry
said the essential foodstuff and other supplies are stored in Jaffna and
other areas to counter shortages. |
