UNP holds 60th convention on Sept 06

KANDY: The 60th convention of the UNP will be held at Sirikotha,
Party Headquarters, Pita Kotte on September 6, presided by Party and
Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The UNP founded in 1946 by late Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. D.S.
Senanayake, will be 60 years old on September 6.
The party will felicitate about 1,600 senior members at the September
6 Sessions, said UNP Deputy General Secretary Parliamentarian Tissa
Attanayake. As a prelude to the Sessions, all religious ceremonies will
be held at Party Headquarters and several temples, kovils, churches and
mosques from September 1 to 3.
Party members who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of the
party will be remembered at a ceremony, held at Sirikotha, with the
participation of their family members on September 4. |
