Food, other facilities for Jaffna's displaced
COLOMBO: The Ministry of Nation Building and Development, on
President Mahinda Rajapaksa's instructions has taken steps to provide
immediate food and other facilities to civilians, displaced in the
Jaffna district on account of the clashes in the area.
Steps have been taken to supply food items, medicine and sanitary
goods worth Rs. 25 million to all displaced families in Jaffna including
the fishing community through the Jaffna Government Agent, said Nation
Building and Development Ministry Secretary M.S. Jayasinghe.
The food items include rice, flour, curry stuff, dhal, green gram,
coconut oil, tea leaves, sugar, B onions, common gram, infant milk food
and full cream milk powder.
This is in addition to the food distribution programme undertaken by
the World Food Program for which arrangements have been made by Social
Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda. |
