Livelihood and skills development projects

HAMBANTOTA: The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JAICA) has agreed to grant Rs. 100 million for implementation of livelihood and skills development projects for the Rural community, identified in three Divisional Secretariats in the Hambantota District.

The identified Divisional Secretariats are Lunugamwehera, Suriyawewa and Hambantota. Over 50,000 families in the secretariat divisions will benefit from the projects. The project will come into operation in November this year and is expected to be completed within four years.

JAICA expects to commence the projects in November this year and complete them in four years.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the financial grant was signed by Local Government and Provincial Councils Ministry Secretary Casian Herath, on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka and JAICA team leader Hydeki Sakada on behalf of JAICA at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils, Colombo.
