Maldives-Sri Lanka hold talks on Social Services, Social Welfare

COLOMBO: The Maldivian Minister of Women and Family Affairs Iyshad
Mohamed Didi who was on a visit to Sri Lanka recently for exchange of
useful Social Services and Social Welfare activities between the two
countries, met Douglas Devananda, Minister of Social Services and Social
Welfare.
The meeting between the two Ministers was held at the Ministry
premises and centred around: the imparting of education to the disabled
from the Maldives under the Ministry of Social Services and Social
Welfare; rehabilitation of drug addicts, conducting of training
programmes to them and rehabilitation of victimised women from broken
families.
The Maldivian Minister was highly appreciative of the pension scheme
for the self-employed and those in the informal vocations. She pointed
out the necessity of exchanging Social Services and Social Welfare
activities between the two countries.
The Maldivian Minister was also detailed about the Social Services
and Social Welfare activities currently in progress and those intented
to be implemented in the future in our country. |
