New Chairman of Stock Brokers Association
APPOINTMENT: Managing Director of Bartleet Mallory Stock Brokers R.
Muralidaran was elected as the new Chairman of Colombo Stockbrokers
Association recently.
Muralidaran who began his career as an investment advisor in 1991 has
progressively reached the pinnacle of his tenure at Bartleet Mallory
Stockbrokers, one of the founder members of the Colombo Bourse.
Muralidaran is well known in the industry for his dynamic business
style, professionalism and a high level of integrity. Colombo Stock
Brokers Association (CSBA) is the apex body that represents a collective
view of its member firms.
It takes up issues pertaining to the members with the regulatory
authorities, with regard to setting up new trading rules, adding new
members etc.
When asked about his plans for the future Muralidaran said: "My main
aim is to expand the industry by augmenting the customer base and to
drive the market to the next league, by moving to lucrative regions
outside the country".
He wishes to popularise online trading, where by an investor can
trade on his own without contacting his advisor.
He also plans to induce more corporate bodies to be listed on the
Colombo Stock Exchange enabling investors to gain more portfolio
diversification.
"I will synchronise with all my colleagues in the member firms to
uplift the industry to higher levels, so that all stakeholders in the
industry will be benefited a great deal.
Another key priority of the newly elected Chairman would be to
improve the knowledge base of the investment advisors, which is critical
to the expansion of the array of investment products; he emphasized "I
wish to broaden the product range by bringing in derivative hedging
instruments while at the same time I also intend to give more
recognition to the neglected fixed income security trading which I would
say is attractive since it guarantees a return" said the newly appointed
Chairman. |
