Maliyadeva-Dharmaraja chess champs

CHESS: Maliyadeva College U-15 and Dharmaraja College U-19 won the `12th Malee for the Count' All Island Inter School Chess Team Championship 2006, which was organised by the Vidyartha College, Kandy and sponsorsered by the People's Bank for the 12th consecutive year. The event took place over the weekend at the Vidyartha College, Kandy.

Kingswood College and Dharmaraja College won the second and third places in U-15, Mahamaya Girls School won the Girls event at the same championship.

Vidyartha College became first runner up and St.Sylvesters College took the second runner up position in the U-19 age group.

Pilimatalawa Central College performed well on the board to win the U-19 Girls award.

The tournament was consisted of five rounds and fifty teams participated at the tournament.

The award ceremony was held after the conclusion of the events.
