Public servants' CoL with August salary

COLOMBO: The Government has decided to add the Cost of Living (CoL) allowance to the August salary of all Government servants.

The payment of the allowance was recommended in the 2005 Budget and is subject to review every six months.

Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry sources said the Public Administration Circular related to the CoL payment would be issued shortly with Treasury approval.

A discussion is also under way with the Treasury to look into the possibility of paying the CoL allowance to pensioners with their September pension, Ministry sources said.
