Amal Cabraal new Chairman at Unilever
APPOINTED: Amal Cabraal, presently the Brands Director of the
company has been appointed Chairman of Unilever Sri Lanka with effect
from 1 September 2006. He becomes only the second Sri Lankan to hold
this position in nearly 70 years of Unilever's presence in the country
and follows after nearly 20 years since Stanley Jayawardena retired in
1987. Ehsan Malik its present Chairman moves on as Chairman Unilever
Pakistan.

In five years under Ehsan Malik's stewardship, the company has more
than doubled in size, making the Sri Lankan operation among the fastest
growing Unilever businesses in Asia.
Commenting on the change, Ehsan Malik said "Amal Cabraal is an
accomplished marketing professional who has been with the business for
over two decades - here in Sri Lanka, the UK, India and Bangladesh.
During this time he has held several key senior management positions
in Marketing and Sales, including the last eight as a Board member. I am
confident that with his experience, he will be able to take the business
to new heights."
Reacting to his appointment, Amal Cabraal said "Indeed I am very
