Gem and jewellery exhibition at Perehera time

Exhibition: An exhibition and sale of Sri Lanka gems jewellery
and handicrafts, jointly organised by the National Gem and Jewellery
Authority and the National Chamber of Handicrafts of Sri Lanka, will be
held at the Royal Ballroom, Queens Hotel, Kandy from August 5 to 9 to
coincide with the Kandy Esala perahera, said National Gem and Jewellery
Authority Chairman Hasitha Tillakaratne.
The exhibition and sale will be ceremonially declared open by
Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Minister Rohitha
Bogollagama on August 5 at 10 a.m.
Senior Manager (Exports and Export Promotion) National Gem and
Jewellery Authority Ajith Perera said a large number of small and medium
scale entrepreneurs from all parts of the country engaged in traditional
rural industries will also participate in the exhibition and sale.
Among the items displayed for the sale at the trade stalls will be
precious, semi-precious gems, gem-studded gold and silver jewellery,
brassware, silverware, leather goods, batiks, reed ware, Dumbara mats,
and handlooms.
National Gem and Jewellery Authority will provide free gem and
jewellery-testing facilities for buyers at the venue.
It will also provide free display space and other facilities to
entrepreneurs participating in the exhibition and sale.
Tillakaratne said the exhibition and sale is aimed to provide wide
exposure for small and medium entrepreneurs among tourists and offer
them better marketing facilities. |
