DC extends enjoining orders on Port Unions

COLOMBO: Colombo District Court Judge Aruna C. Ranasinghe yesterday extended the two enjoining orders until August 03, that were issued earlier preventing ten Trade Unions of the Port of Colombo from engaging in a Go-slow or working less than the normal capacity reducing the productivity of the Port.

The Court ordered the defendants to file objections on August 03.

The enjoining order issued against ten Trade Unions of Sri Lanka Ports Authority including Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya, Jathika Vurthiya Samithi Sangamaya, Sri Lanka Waraya Adikariye Karmika Niladaringe Sangamaya, Samastha Lanka Waraya Podu Sewaka Sangamaya and Samudriya Nilandaringe Sangamaya.

The orders prevented the defendants from threatening and intimidating employees who had reported for employment at the Port of Colombo and preventing the Trade Unions and its members from engaging in a Go-slow or working less than normal capacity reducing the productivity of the Port of Colombo.
