Chamil wins Gross winners medal

GOLF: The First Round of the Victoria Golf Medal Series was keenly contested on Saturday at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort. Despite the recent rain, the course was in very good condition and some excellent scores were returned.

Chamil Wickramasinghe, playing off a handicap of nine, stormed home to win the Gross Winner's Medal with a commendable 78 while the Overall Best Net Score Medal was collected by Veinert Holm from Division two with a winning Nett 72.

In the Nett competition, Division one was won by Sujeewa Lankathilake with Lalith Ramanayake runner-up. Division two winner, Saliya Senanayake, achieved success in his first competitive round at Victoria, a great start to the Series. Sirath Kasturiratne came back into form at the right time to claim the Division two runner-up prize.

The Ladies Competition was very tight. Suwen Selveratnum, always setting consistently high standards, won the Gross competition with Andrea Aida winning the Medal for the best Net score with a 77 from Manori Jayakody's 78. All players received Draw Tickets for taking part in the competition.
