Chamil wins Gross winners medal
GOLF: The First Round of the Victoria Golf Medal Series was keenly
contested on Saturday at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort. Despite
the recent rain, the course was in very good condition and some
excellent scores were returned.
Chamil Wickramasinghe, playing off a handicap of nine, stormed home
to win the Gross Winner's Medal with a commendable 78 while the Overall
Best Net Score Medal was collected by Veinert Holm from Division two
with a winning Nett 72.
In the Nett competition, Division one was won by Sujeewa Lankathilake
with Lalith Ramanayake runner-up. Division two winner, Saliya Senanayake,
achieved success in his first competitive round at Victoria, a great
start to the Series. Sirath Kasturiratne came back into form at the
right time to claim the Division two runner-up prize.
The Ladies Competition was very tight. Suwen Selveratnum, always
setting consistently high standards, won the Gross competition with
Andrea Aida winning the Medal for the best Net score with a 77 from
Manori Jayakody's 78. All players received Draw Tickets for taking part
in the competition.
There are 6 more competitions in the Series and the Grand Draw will
take place on the final Medal day, the 16th December when two Airline
Tickets can be won. The date of the next Medal Series Competition is
Saturday, the 29th July. |
