COLOMBO: Ruana Rajapakse's 'An Introduction to Law in Sri Lanka' will
be launched at the National Library and Documentation Services Board
auditorium, Colombo 7 on July 7 at 4. 30 p.m.
R. K. W. Goonesekere and Professor Savitri Goonesekere will be the
chief guests. 'An Introduction to Law in Sri Lanka' is a Stanford Lake
publication.
Two publications
COLOMBO:Two IUCN publications, 'Fauna of Sri Lanka: Status of
Taxonomy, Research and Conservation' and 'A guide to Sinharaja: A
biodiversity hotpot of the world' will be launched at the Committee Room
'A' of the BMICH, Colombo 7 on July 6 at 4 p.m.
Felicitation ceremony
COLOMBO: A variety entertainment depicting veteran dramatist Henry
Jayasena's career of creativity, acting and items from his dramas titled
"Chiran Jayathu Asadak" will be telecast on National Rupavahini on July
06 at 10.10 p.m. to mark Henry Jayasena's 75th birth anniversary.
Henry Jayasena functioned as a Deputy Director General (Miscellaneous
Programmes) of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation at the early stages
of its inauguration.
Remembering Jothipala
BORELLA:The Pragna Pradeepa Arts Forum has organised a commemorative
festival opposite the Jothipala Music Memorial at General Cemetery,
Borella, on July 07, at 3.30 p.m. to commemorate the 19th death
anniversary of the late veteran singer H. R. Jothipala.
The awarding of scholarships to children of low income families,
presentation of awards to lyricists who composed songs for Jothipala, a
collection of signatures to a petition protesting the distortion of
Jothipala's songs and donation of wheelchairs will be among the
highlights of the event.
Looking Thru' My Earphones
KANDY: An evening of performance poetry titled 'Lookin thru my
earfones' directed by Tracy Holsinger will be staged at Mahaweli Reach,
Kandy on July 8 at 5 p.m..
Picketing
COLOMBO: A picketing in protest over the killing of Sampath Lakmal
(freelance) will be held at 12 noon today opposite the Fort Railway
Station premises by Journalists For Sri Lanka.
The protest will be held under the theme "Let us come forward -
Protect media men".
Protest in support of 18th Amendment
COLOMBO: The Amalgamated Board of Judicial Scheduled Officers Trade
Union Of Sri Lanka yesterday stated that the Court staff in Colombo
suburbs hope to gather in front of Parliament to compel the
Parliamentarians to pass the 18th Amendment to the Constitution
disregarding party affiliations.
They court staff would gather today at 8 a.m. before the parliament. |
