Seminar on tax changes effected by Budget 2006

WORKSHOP: The Sri Lanka Branch of the International Fiscal Association (headquartered in The Netherlands) has organised a seminar to be held on June 1 at Trans Asia Hotel. This seminar will provide information on the most recent changes in the tax laws and the Government's role in the shaping of current tax policies and tax administration.

The seminar will feature a key note address by Secretary, Ministry of Planning and Plan Implementation and Advisor on Economic Affairs to the President Ajith Nivard Cabraal.

Expositions on the most recent amendments to or introductions of the Inland Revenue Act, the VAT Act. Finance Acts and the Stamp Duty, by speakers H. B. A. Seneviratne (C.I.R.) and Ms. Dhammika Gunatilake (D.C.I.R.) (c) comments and analysis of the implications of the amendments for taxpayers by Chartered Accountant N. R. Gajendran and (d) exposition and analysis of the laws relating to deemed dividends and thin capitalisation by tax academic and chamber lawyer Dr. Shivaji Felix.

Participants will also have the opportunity to obtain clarifications of the issues discussed from a panel of knowledgeable and competent persons.
