Four senior and junior cueists in battle for Asian Billiard titles
BILLIARDS: The reigning National Billiard Champion K.H.
Sirisoma and a former champion Henry Boteju left for Iran to compete at
the Asian Billiard Championships. The two junior cueists Ryan Somaratne
(OAC) and Rasika Perera (Black Pool Parlour) too joined their senior
partners to compete in the junior section for the Asian championship.
The team will be managed by Ameer Mukhthar while G.S. Daluwatte will
officiate as a referee. A total of sixteen countries from Asia are
engaged in the battle for Asian supremacy.
The championship will also be a tough one for Lankans as top ranked
players in the world scene and the Asian region are competing. The
highly rated cueists are from India, Pakistan and Thailand. It is
expected that Geeth Sethi and Panraj Advaani from India to dominate the
tourney.
Sri Lankans Sirisoma and Boteju who has represented the country at
Asian and world level should prove their class when they confront these
cueists. Earlier too they have battled alongside them and they should
make good use of their experiences to the maximum to bring glory to Sri
Lanka. BP |
