EPDP condemns killing of innocent civilians
COLOMBO: The Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) while
condemning the brutal murders of innocent islanders of Vellanai,
Puliyankoodal and Allaipitty in the Peninsula has stated that the LTTE
has fabricated stories with regard to the incident to implicate the EPDP.
The EPDP statement: The islanders off Jaffna stood against immense
sufferings in the past and it was those islands that gave strength to
the EPDP. No word could express those painful memories and those
reminiscences which were still fresh in the hearts of the islanders; the
scars that were left behind remain hard to be erased from their minds.
The EPDP stood by those islanders during those agonising era to date
and EPDP lent its hands at time of need and helped wipe out the tears
from those weeping souls.
The brutal killings were another cruel act of blood thirsty gun
culture which did not discriminate between the young, the old and the
infants and the massacre stands to testify that the people who were
yearning and aspiring for their political rights have even lost their
right to live.
The relationship between the EPDP and the islanders were intertwined
and interlinked as that of the nail and flesh. They were shaken and
saddened to hear that the people of this beloved land lay in pool of
blood.
Those who had no respect for human lives and sought political gain on
the death of others may be contended with those butchery acts. It might
give political survival to those who shed crocodile tears on those
murders and sought the support of local and international community to
strengthen their war effort.
The EPDP expressing its stance in the message said that it denounced
violence in any form and condemned killings whoever had done it and
stood to safeguard the people from the destruction of war, those types
of incidents were heart rendering and painful. |
