Karunanidhi for peaceful solution in Lanka

CHENNAI: The newly elected Tamil Nadu State Government does
not approve the LTTE taking arms against the Sri Lankan Government,
party loyalist and former Member of the Indian Parliament R Shivaram
said in an exclusive interview with the Daily News.
Shivaram who is expected to be a Lok Sabha member within the next few
weeks, said that their Chief Minister Karunanidhi wants to prevent the
LTTE from going for an armed conflict with the Sri Lankan government.
He said that Karunanidhi is very concerned about Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Shivaram said that Karunanidhi initially supported the LTTE but
discontinued it following former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's
assassination.
He said that Karunanidhi was willing to help the LTTE to pursue a
peaceful solution with the Government. |
