Delmege Group in line for a double

BASKETBALL: Delmege Group put themselves in contention for a grand double with a fine performance at the Mercantile five a side inter firm basketball tournament worked off at the Royal College indoor stadium in Reid Avenue.

Delmege Group powered their way into the final of the 'A' division tournament with a convincing 21-13 victory over Sampath Bank 'A'. In addition the Delmege Group 'B' division team also reached the final of the 'B' division tournament with a smashing 20-6 win over Nations Trust Bank 'B' team.

In the other semifinal of the 'A' division tournament Nations Trust Bank had the better of Seylan Bank by 27 points to 11 points. In the 'B' division tournament semifinals Hatton National Bank defeated Sampath Bank 'B' 18-11.

In the 'C' division tournament semifinals Amana Takaful beat Ceylinco 'A' 19-13 and HSBC 'B' team edged out Commercial Bank 18-14. In the 'D' division tournament semifinals Nations Trust Bank 'C' beat SriLankan Airlines 'C' 30-28 and Ceylinco 'A' had the better of DFCC Vardhana Bank 23-11. All finals will be worked off on Thursday at the Royal College indoor stadium commencing at 5.00 p.m.
