Habaraduwa Livelihood Development Plan to be launched
GALLE: The Livelihood Division of the Reconstruction and Development
Agency (RADA) in collaboration with ILO has facilitated the launch of
the first Divisional Livelihood Development Plan (DLDP) in Habaraduwa in
the Galle Secretariat.
Thirty-five more DLDPs are also to be launched in the other affected
districts soon to restore livelihoods and expedite development among the
Tsunami affected communities. The plan titled, Sustainable Livelihood
Development for the Divisional Secretary of Habaraduwa, Lal Samarasekara,
will present Habaraduwa Division.
The DLDP, which was finalized after assessing the needs of Tsunami
affected villagers of Habaraduwa, is likely to make significant impact
on the long term development of this area once implemented, RADA
Officials said.
Among the key players invited for the launch are NGO and INGOs
operating in the Galle District, the donor community, government
agencies and community representatives. Once the livelihood development
plan is unveiled by the Divisional Secretary of Habaraduwa, NGOs and
donor community will be invited to contribute to implementation of the
projects, especially in financing the plans, to expedite the livelihood
restoration in Habaraduwa.
The event will take place on May 11 at 2.00 p.m. at the Galle
District Secretariat and will be chaired by the District Secretary,
Asoka Jayasekara. The Chief Operating Officer of RADA, Saliya
Wickremasuriya is scheduled to make the keynote address. |
