Wesley-Richmond cricket match to help tsunami victims

CRICKET: The Old Boys of Wesley College, Colombo and Richmond
College, Galle have organised an old boys cricket match as a fund
raising project to assist tsunami victims.
The funds raised at this event would go to the joint Wesley-Richmond
Shelton Wirasinha Memorial Fund. The past pupils of both Wesley and
Richmond have come together to commemorate one of the most charismatic
and illustrious school principals of Sri Lanka.
The funds raised through the activities will be channelled to slacken
off the anguish and distress of deserving students isolated from schools
affected by the tsunami disaster.
The cricket match between the two OBA teams is planned for over 40
category to play it safe. Also plans are under way to get Kingswood
College Kandy as well to make it a triangular, Chairman of the committee
Captain Naveen de Silva revealed at the press conference held at the
OWSC in Colombo.
The match will be played at the Wesley College grounds on Saturday
27th May commencing at 2 p.m. This will be followed by a get together
and a dinner dance from 7.30 p.m. onwards. The Shelton Wirasinha
Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the winners. |
