Increase in Chinese investments
CEO'S FORUM: Chinese joint ventures and collaborative projects will
promote more foreign investment to Sri Lanka, Enterprise Development and
Foreign Investment Development Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, said.
Speaking at the first China-Sri Lanka CEOs Summit organised by the
Asian Capital Forum (ACF) in China yesterday at the BMICH, he said Sri
Lanka has achieved a significant growth in the telecommunication sector.
There is an overall investment of nearly US$ 70 billion in this
sector and more investments are expected", he said. The Minister said
Chinese investments have been high in the construction and highways
sector The country seeks more investments for the plantation,
agriculture sectors and for cool room facilities for the fishing
industry.
Fifty Chief Executive officers based in China and 100 Sri Lankan
CEO's are expected to establish business links for the economic benefit
of both nations at the Forum. |
