Trinity cager champs

BASKETBALL: Trinity College, Kandy became Central Region under-15 basketball champions when they beat Walala A. Ratnayake Central College 70-58 in the finals of the tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Basketball Association and played at St. Anthony's College courts at Katugastota yesterday. At the breather Lions led 39-37.

Trinity College who earlier became Group A champions met with some stiff opposition by Colombo International School before winning by a wafter thin margin of 50-49 in the semi-finals.

In the second semi-finals Walala A. Ratnayake Central surprised St. Anne's College, Kurunegala to win comfortably 51-32.

St. Anne's however won the losers final to defeat Colombo International School 51-32 after leading 19-18 at lemons.

The awards went to:

Best Defensive Player: Bandula Wijewardena (Walala A. Ratnayake Central College).

Best Offensive Player: Chapa Kuruppu (Trinity College).

Most Valuable Player: Randil Senaviratne (Trinity College).
