Free laparoscopy plastic surgery in Matara

COLOMBO: A team from Interplast UK will conduct a Mercy Mission in
plastic surgery at the Matara General Hospital from May 15 to 31 for
patients in need of laparoscopy plastic surgery in the Southern
Province.
Addressing a press conference at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute,
Colombo on Wednesday to announce the Mercy Mission sponsored and
organised by the German Help Foundation, Secretary F. Vethanayagam said
while the team from UK was coming to Sri Lanka for the 23rd consecutive
year, the free plastic surgery is conducted for the sixth year by
Interplast UK. The team will be here on May 14, he added.
The Mission will be here under the patronage of Foreign Affairs, Port
and Aviation Minister Mangala Samaraweera. The project is being
coordinated by the Medical Superintendent and Staff of the General
Hospital, Matara.
The Mercy Mission is carried out with the approval of the Healthcare
and Nutrition Ministry, Sri Lanka Medical Council and Sri Lanka Customs.
Dr. Charles Viva from Germany will lead the medical team consisting
doctors and other medical personnel from UK, Finland and Sri Lanka.
The UK Medical team will be assisted by the Matara General Hospital
Medical Superintendent Dr. Pathmatilleke and his hospital staff.
German Help Foundation Secretary F. Vethanayagam said although the
Mercy Mission is to operate at the Matara Hospital, patients from other
parts of the country could also seek help. |
