No musical shows, merry making within Sacred City - Atamasthanadhipathi

ANURADHAPURA: Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thera said he would never permit the holding of musical shows or any other events of merry making within the Anuradhapura Sacred City as long as he held the post of Atamasthanadhipathi.

Musical shows and other such events would only undermine the culture, ancient values and the Sanctity of the Sacred area, he said.

Ven. Dr. Siriniwasa Thera deplored the attempts made by certain quarters to organise such events in the Sacred City when the country was passing through a period of crisis. When the country is gearing up to commemorate the 2550th Buddha Jayanthi, the people especially parents should rally round to eradicate anti-religious and social activities within the Sacred City.
