Doctors optimistic Army Chief will fully recover

COLOMBO: Doctors treating Army Commander Lt. General Sarath Fonseka are very optimistic that he would fully recover and be completely normal, National Hospital Deputy Director (Accident Service) Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.

He told the Daily News that the Commander had gained full consciousness and maintained healthy conversations with his family members during the past several days.

According to the doctor, the Commander was still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) along with three other Army personnel injured in the suicide bomb blast at the Army Headquarters on April 25.

Fonseka had received severe injuries in the abdomen and the thoracic areas in the attack.
