Mohideen appointed Regional Director

KARATE: Old Kingswoodian J.M. Mohideen was appointed as the
South Asian Regional Director of the Kudo International Federation
Recently. He is presently the President and Chief Instructor of the Kudo
Daido Juku Sri Lanka Branch.
This position has been conferred on Shihan J.M. Mohideen by the
Founder of the International Kudo Federation Grand Master - Jukucho
Asuma Takeshi for his commitment and yeoman service that he has rendered
to promote this noble art in Sri Lanka and this is the first time a Sri
Lankan has been honoured with such a posting in the field of martial
arts.
Shihan Mohideen is a well-known and respected figure in the field of
martial arts in Sri Lanka who began his career in 1975 under the
guidance of Sensei Sunil Amerasinghe of the Kandy Karate Association an
affiliate of the then Ceylon Karate Association (National body for
Karate during that period) under the leadership of stalwart and father
of Shotokan Karate in Sri Lanka Sensei Bonnnie Roberts. Sensei Mohideen
was promoted as the Chief Instructor of the Central Province Karate
Association.
With his present appointment as the South Asian Regional Director, he
shoulders the additional responsibility of introducing Kudo practices
and Kudo International Federation to countries within the South Asia
Region - Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan and
Bhutan and becoming the communication portal for those martial arts
organisations interested in joining the Kudo International Federation.
Apart from his exploits in the field of Karate, Mohideen played rugby
for Kingswood College as a fearless forward. He also represented the
school in athletics at the circuit, Sonal and district levels. He was a
member of the Police Cadets Platoon and was also a Lance Corporal in the
Junior Cadets corps. He was also a member of the Kingswood Judo Club and
the President of the College Islamic Society. |
