Security increased to net LTTE suspects

COLOMBO: Road blocks and barriers have been increased in Colombo and the suburbs to strengthen security, Colombo DIG Pujith Jayasundera said.

This was decided following the LTTE terrorist attack on the Army Headquarters last week. "We have deployed more special patrols, Police officers and Army personnel 24 hours a day," he said.

Police and Army officers will make surprise checks to nab terrorist suspects, Jayasundera said. He urged the public to be cautious over the movement of suspicious persons and requested the public to assist prevent terrorist activities and keep the city free of all threats.

The DIG requested the public to contact emergency lines 115 or 2433333, if they have any information pertaining to the breach of national security and other crimes.
