LTTE kills soldier

VAVUNIA: The LTTE pistol gang claimed life of another soldier at Vavunia around 2.45 pm yesterday. He was gunned down while on duty at the Murukkantale roadblock on Thadikulam-Kalmadu Road.

Army sources said that the LTTE pistol gang on motorbike rode past the roadblock directing pistol shots at the soldiers on roadblock duty without any provocation from the part of the troops.

The victim was identified as G.L.C.U.K. Liyanage of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry. He died of his injuries before he was taken to hospital.
