National Bhikku Front takes UNP to task

COLOMBO: The National Bhikku Front responding to the statements made by UNP Deputy Secretary Tissa Attanayake and Parliamentarian Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena at a press conference held on April 18 said the UNP seemed to welcome the arrival of bodies in the South following claymore attacks made on the Security Forces by the LTTE to hide its own setbacks.

The National Bhikku Front in a press release issued yesterday said the LTTE terrorists have gone into a defeatist frenzy as its Eelam dream becomes more elusive day by day. While a blockade is made internationally against LTTE terrorism they are getting rejected by their own people as well.

In this situation the Wanni Tigers are trying to create a war mentality by launching claymore bomb attacks against the Security Forces.

The release signed by Front's President Ven. Dambara Amila Nayake Thera further said, it is the UNP which subjected successive governments to a trap of international interference by betraying the country and affording equal diplomatic status as the Government to the LTTE by signing the Ceasefire Agreement with them.

But today the UNP was trying to be good samaritans by issuing press statements thinking the people in this country were deaf, dumb and blind.

Certain sections of the international community supportive of Eelam were also issuing warnings treating the government and the LTTE on equal status.

However, the laudable steps taken by the Canadian government to stifle the LTTE activities internationally will be honoured and welcomed by the Sri Lankan people and all other anti terrorist and separatist forces.

It is a slap in the face of Norway which is indirectly supporting Eelam by falsely posturing as a peace broker. The rest of the countries in the world should take a leaf from Canada and take direct action to ban the LTTE from their lands too.

The Bhikku Front in its release said that since the LTTE and their invisible supporters have joined hands to form a strong terrorist camp it would call upon the Government and all patriotic forces to join handswith the international community opposed to terrorism and separatism to defeat all their aims.
