AGM and then 6 mile sea swim of Kinross SC
SWIMMING: Two important events in the calendar of the 65 year
old Kinross Swimming and Life Saving Club takes place this weekend - one
amongst which is the AGM under the Presidency of Morgan Fernando,
scheduled for this Saturday evening at the club and the other that
follows on Sunday 26 morning, is the clubs 41st Six Mile Sea Swim, which
commences from the sea adjoining the Kinross Club premises.
The club did suffer a major set back as a result of the tsunami which
caused extensive damage to its property and buildings.
However the club in the shortest possible time did bounce back with
much resilience to take remedial action in effecting repairs and changes
to construct afresh and give the club a new look thereby, in the
interest of its membership. It's against this backdrop that the AGM
takes place on Saturday 26.
The AGM will be followed next day by the 41st Six Mile Sea Swim,
which couldn't be held last year because of the tsunami.
It's a much looked forward to event, incidentally it is the longest
swimming race in the island. The race will commence from Kinross and
proceed to Mt. Lavinia Hotel end, turn around and progress to finish at
Kinross.
The awards ceremony will be held at the club after as many have
completed the 6 mile course.
