President to solve problems of persons in brassware industry
COLOMBO: President Mahinda Rajapakse yesterday pledged to offer
solutions for the problems faced by persons engaged in the brassware
industry.
The President made this pledge when he met a group of brassware
producers yesterday when he visited Kandy. Policy Implementation
Minister and Kandy district MP Keheliya Rambukwella had arranged the
meeting.
During the discussion, the producers pointed out to the President the
hardships they have to face in finding brass as a raw material for their
products.
The President who called the relevant officials instructed them to
submit a report on the issue within three days and take all steps
necessary to address the grievances of the brassware producers.
The producers commended the President for taking immediate steps to
address their problems.
Sri Lanka's brassware industry which has offered employment to around
200,000 people is centred in the Kandy district. |
