President receives prelate's blessings for peace initiatives

KANDY: President Mahinda Rajapakse was blessed by Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thera on the fresh peace initiatives.

The President visited the prelate after worshipping at Kandy Dalada Maligawa yesterday.

President Mahinda Rajapakse visited Dalada Maligawa, Kandy and participated in a special pooja to the Sacred Relic.

On his arrival at the Maligawa he was received by Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara and conducted to the inner shrine where President Rajapakse made his offerings.

He was also blessed by Maha Sangha of the Malwatta Chapter who performed Thewawa at the Maligawa.

President Rajapakse also called on Most. Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatta Mahavihara chapter at Malwatta Viharaya.

The President also briefed the prelate on the current political situation and the peace process.

Most. Ven. Mahanayake Thera expressed his satisfaction on the achievement of the government's peace process and wished that the government's sincere attempts to bring about peace and prosperity would be of success with the blessings of "Thrivida Ratne".
