Ranawana a convincing win over Sampath Bank

Ranawana and Company Limited produced a superb second half rally to beat Sampath Bank 'B' team by 57 points to 52 points in their Delmege Super League Mercantile 'B' division basketball tournament match played at the Otters Aquatic Club courts yesterday.

The winners took a close 26-24 lead at half time and consolidated their position in the second half with S. Dushantha (29) doing the bulk of the scoring. C. Samaraweera (21) and S. Mallikarachchi (13) did the scoring for Sampath Bank 'B'.

Meanwhile Hayleys cruised to an easy 54-28 victory over Nations Trust Bank 'B' team after leading 22-12 in their 'C' division tournament match. S. Peiris (11), R. Ganewatte (15) and A. Gazalli (16) had an outstanding game for the winners while I. Perera contributed ten points for Nations Trust Bank 'B'.

In the 'D' division tournament SriLankan Airlines defeated Aitken Spence 50-32 after leading 28-18 at half time. A. Thilak (17) excelled for the winners while M. Perera (17) and W. Abeygoda (10) figured in a vain attempt for Aitken Spence.

In another 'D' division tournament match DFCC beat Galadari Hotel 18-14 after trailing 4-7 at half time and Paints and General Limited edged out Mobitel 27-22 after leading 18-14 at half time.
