Discrepancies, irregularities in kidnap claim

The Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) claim on the abduction of five of their members contains a lot of discrepancies and irregularities, but the Government is committed to inquire into the allegations for the sake of the peace process, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera said yesterday.

Investors shouldn't panic over minor incidents- Analysts

Stock analysts raised concern that the positive sentiment which the market experienced following the LTTE's announcement of their willingness to hold talks in Geneva could be reversed due to investors being panicked by minor incidents which do not seriously impact the peace process.

South Africans will go flat out for victory

The South Africans who play the Australians at the Telstra Dome tomorrow will be determined to pocket a victory and clinch a place in the best of three Victoria Bitter series, with the first final slated for February 10 in Adelaide. In the previous two meetings, South Africa won in Brisbane and then lost the next one at the Telstra Dome.
