Lankans beat champs Pakistan

The Sri Lanka under 19 team bounced back into recognition with a morale boosting 78 run victory over defending champions Pakistan in their Youth World Cup warm up match played at Police Park yesterday.

Sri Lanka: 228 in 48.3 overs (D. Karunaratne 50, S. Soysa 35, S. Serasinghe 23, H. Fernando 38, S. Karunanayake 20, J. Ahmed 4 for 45, L. Mohamed 2 for 24)

Pakistan: 150 in 33.5 overs (R. Raja 30, A. Azad 28, A. Ali 37, T. Perera 2 for 20, S. Karunanayake 2 for 18)

England upsets India

England caused a major upset as they defeated the last years runners up India by 28 runs in their Youth World Cup warm up match played at Reid Avenue yesterday.

England: 186 in 43.4 overs (M. Stoneman 36, M. Nelson 34, S. Bandhir 3 for 36, T. Phalmer 2 for 55, R. Jadeja 2 for 25)

India: 158 in 38.3 overs (C. Pujara 26, R. Sharma 34, M. Nelson 3 for 37, N. James 3 for 20)

Uganda beat Ireland

Uganda pulled off an easy 41 run victory over Ireland in their Youth World Cup warm up match played at the BRC grounds, Havelock Park yesterday.

Uganda: 218 for 9 in 50 overs (R. Makita 24, J. Otelo 66, A. Muthahir 29, R. Sameende 47 n.o, N. Macdabe 39, J. Thompson 3 for 33)

B'desh a 10 wkt win

Opener Tamim Khan hammered a sparkling 103 not out from just 64 balls to steer Bangladesh to a smashing ten wicket victory over the USA in their Youth World Cup warm up match played at the Colts CC grounds, Havelock Park yesterday.

USA: 143 in 49.5 overs

Bangladesh: 144 for no loss in 17.2 overs (T. Khan 104 n.o, R. Hassen 28 n.o)

Proteas rout Kiwis

Richard Levi struck an unbeaten 90 to guide South Africa to a five wicket victory over New Zealand in their Youth World Cup warm up match played at Moratuwa yesterday.
