Outer Circular Road project work begins

The Road Development Authority (RDA) has commenced the Colombo Outer Circular highway project with the assistance of the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

RDA Director H.Y. Fernando told the Daily News that the Authority has already started acquiring land required for the construction of the first section of the 28 kilometre highway.

The Colombo Outer Circular road is a highway running from Kottawa to Kerawalapitiya connecting the Colombo-Katunayake, Colombo-Kandy and Colombo-Matara expressways. It would also cover the areas of Athurugiriya, Kothalawala, Hewagama, Biyagama and Kadawatha.

"The first phase of the project consists of 12 kilometres from Kottawa to Kaduwela."
