Outer Circular Road project work begins

The Road Development Authority (RDA) has commenced the Colombo Outer
Circular highway project with the assistance of the Japanese Bank for
International Cooperation (JBIC).
RDA Director H.Y. Fernando told the Daily News that the Authority has
already started acquiring land required for the construction of the
first section of the 28 kilometre highway.
The Colombo Outer Circular road is a highway running from Kottawa to
Kerawalapitiya connecting the Colombo-Katunayake, Colombo-Kandy and
Colombo-Matara expressways. It would also cover the areas of
Athurugiriya, Kothalawala, Hewagama, Biyagama and Kadawatha.
"The first phase of the project consists of 12 kilometres from
Kottawa to Kaduwela." |
