Duty free vehicle permits to war heroes' dependants

The Cabinet has decided to grant permits to import duty free vehicles to dependants of senior officers of the three Armed Forces of the rank of Brigadier / Air Commodore / Commodore and above who have sacrificed their lives in the defence of the country.

The Cabinet has given its approval on a recommendation by President and Minister of Defence Mahinda Rajapakse.

Earlier this concession was allowed to dependants of the most senior officers of the armed forces.
