New salary structure for SLTB

The Government has decided to formulate a new salary structure for employees of the State bus sector.

Transport and Railways Minister A.H.M. Fowzie said this is aimed at addressing various anomalies in the present salary structure of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB).

A special committee will shortly be appointed to look into the salary problems of SLTB employees and formulate a new salary structure.

The committee is expected to take into account the grievances of SLTB employees and come up with a new salary structure which would increase the efficiency of the State bus service by providing its employees with a salary proportionate to the rising cost of living.

"The committee will make its recommendations in six months. We hope to implement the new salary structure once the SLTB recovers from its loss-making status," the Minister said.
