Caltex powers SLRFU for a further five years

The Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union renewed its contract with Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited for a further five years where they will sponsor the Caltex inter club 'A' division league tournament, Clifford Cup knock out tournament and the under 23 tournament until 2010.

This year the SLRFU has made elaborate plans on playing the League tournament in a different format and have also introduced the under 23 tournament to open the doors for the school leavers. This s a giant step taken by the Union to take the game to the masses.

In addition to the live coverage on TV, other promotions planned by Caltex will definitely add on the excitement of the sports loving public. Radio promotions for listeners to win exciting promotional giveaways from Caltex and an event similar to the selection of the most popular ruggerite and the most popular rugby club is in the pipeline of action for this season as well.

The selection of the best ruggerite, best rugby club, best captain, best forward and best three quarter and promising young player would continue with the tradition begun by Caltex. The League tournament will kick off in May and will continue until June with the second round commencing from July. In addition the Caltex Clifford Cup knock out tournament will be worked off in August.
